About Me

My name is Nancy DeLaval Miller and I have more than thirteen personalities. I have written a book about the way I discovered I had Multiple Personality Disorder. The book is entitled Multiple: A Christian’s Battle with Insanity.

I was sexually abused when I was four years old and in order to survive I imagined new personalities to take the abuse. They caused intense mental instability. The most unusual thing about my mental illness is that I imagined the other personalities to KEEP FROM GOING CRAZY.

It’s mind bloggleing, what the human mind will do to survive and I’m not sure anyone has ever been completely healed from Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD), which is now called Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). Psychologists say that everyone dissociates sometimes, which means letting your mind wonder away from the present time and place. It’s like daydreaming, if you’re normal. It’s like becoming another person, if you’re mentally ill. The main symptoms that caused me to seek help for my mental problems were the following:

  1. Extreme Anxiety and Panic Attacks
  2. Lack of trust in relationships
  3. Confusion and Dizziness
  4. Memory problems
  5. Fear of new people and places

If you were sexually abused as a child and you suspect that you may have MPD or DID, get an appointment with a psychologist or psychiatrist as soon as possible. Most states have programs for mental health patients that are partially or fully funded. You may also want to contact NAMI, The National Alliance on Mental Illness, which has offices in most major cities as well as a national website. They should be familiar with psychologists and psychiatrists that can help you, and possibly get you a discount on their services.

My Blog, MULITPLE is an outreach to other multiples and therapy for myself and my readers.  I am concentrating on humor for my posts, but occasionally I get serious, really serious. My book will be available within a few weeks.

You are really brave I’ve never really known someone who has MPD but you seem to be dealing with it remarkably well. I will continue to read your blog because of the good you are doing

Hi Nancy Just started to read your blogs and they’re really interesting, I love it that you like to concentrate on humour as that is how we have coped with the difficult days.
Good luck with your book, let me know when it is published.

I never met another Newfie with mpd. What a blessing to have found you. I’m struggling with it myself and am looking and waiting for help/direction. So sorry to hear what happened to you. You’re not alone. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and story with us. God bless each part of you, Nancy.
